Amy Goins
Studio Owner/Certified Pilates Instructor

Amy was introduced to the Pilates method in September of 2001--one month after the death of her younger sister.  Amy credits Pilates for beginning to heal her body (she was 30 pounds overweight and exercised infrequently) so she could get to the more difficult work of healing her mind and spirit from the devastating loss.  She spent ten years honing her teaching skills as an economic expert witness before becoming a certified pilates instructor in April of 2007. Amy opened her home-based studio in August of 2007, and within 8 months had a client base exceeding 80 individuals.

Amy completed her mat and standing Pilates certification in San Diego and Washington D.C., respectively, through the PhysicalMind Institute. She completed her Pilates apparatus certification through Master Pilates Instructor Michael Wright of The Body College in D.C. She is also certified to teach EXO chair through Balanced Body University.  Amy is a student member of the Pilates Method Alliance. Her true passion is teaching pilates the way "Joe" designed it to be performed, one-on-one.  She trains individuals on the pilates chair, reformer and cadillac.  Amy also trains groups in mat and standing pilates.

Amy has experience with pre- and post-natal clients, golfers, runners, equestrians, and tennis (as well as racquetball and squash) players.  She has also worked with clients who have undergone lumbar discectomy and knee replacement surgeries (all post physical therapy), individually and in groups.  Amy strongly believes in the mission of CENTERED--she cares for the bodies, minds and spirits of each and every client utilizing the wondrous tool that is the Pilates method.

Lisa Bray
Certified EXO Chair Instructor
Certified Mat I Instructor

Lisa grew up studying ballet and as an adult has enjoyed tennis, distance running and weight training.  It was not until she discovered pilates that she found the perfect exercise encompassing the simple grace of ballet, the physical challenge of running and the sculpting effects of weight training.  She believes there is nothing better than the feeling of quiet contentment and slightly sore abdominal muscles that she experiences after a pilates session.

Lisa is certified through Balanced Body University in both EXO chair and mat pilates.  She loves to offer clients creative and challenging workouts, often encompassing props to intensify and diversify the sessions.  When she is not teaching pilates, Lisa works as an attorney and is the mother of 2 young children.
